Am Donnerstag, dem 15. November 2018, hält Juniorprofessor Dr. Anthony Anjorin im Rahmen der Zwischenevaluation seiner Juniorprofessur einen Vortrag mit dem Thema: „Engineering Consistency Management Solutions with Bidirectional Transformations.
The complexity of the software systems we build and maintain today is continuously on the rise, driven by better hardware, the accelerating digitalisation of our world, and the ubiquity of software products in all aspects of our lives. Model-Driven (Software) Engineering (MDE) is a constructive approach to software engineering that focuses primarily on establishing and managing useful abstractions, providing a powerful means of coping with complexity. MDE advocates working with multiple abstractions (models) of a system, each chosen to be as suitable (and thus as simple) as possible for a particular domain and task. While this promises various advantages including involving domain experts in the active specification and validation of their own models, it also poses numerous challenges. One of these challenges is providing a supporting infrastructure for working productively with such models. My research interests and activities are centred around supporting model management tasks in general, and in particular tasks related to consistency management , i.e., specifying, checking for, and restoring the consistency of two or more models. The research area of consistency management is more often referred to as bidirectional transformations (bx) and is relevant to a wide range of research communities including software engineering, systems engineering, databases, programming languages, graph transformation, business process modelling, and UI development (to mention a few). In this talk, I shall present some highlights of my ongoing work in the last two and a half years, discuss current challenges, and outline future areas of research.
