Variational problems such as bilevel optimization, semi-infinite programming, mathematical programming with complementarity constraints and noncooperative games share some similarities, which may lead to meaningful connections. In this way, theoretical developments and algorithms for one of these models could be exploited to cope with the others. Indeed, connections between bilevel optimization with semi-infinite programs and  mathematical programs with complementarity constraints have been widely studied and exploited. Recent results show strong connections of these models with generalized Nash games as well. The minisymposium aims at discussing these new connections together with recent advancements for these kinds of variational problems, focusing in particular on solution methods.
