Minisymposium 8b: Variational problems and their interdependences Part II

Time: 10:30 - 12:30
Room: L1.201, Building L
Organiser:
Giancarlo Bigi, Università di Pisa, and Simone Sagratella, Sapienza Università di Roma
Chair:
Simone Sagratella, Sapienza Università di Roma

For Part I see MS8a

Variational problems such as bilevel optimization, semi-infinite programming, mathematical programming with complementarity constraints and noncooperative games share some similarities, which may lead to meaningful connections. In this way, theoretical developments and algorithms for one of these models could be exploited to cope with the others. Indeed, connections between bilevel optimization with semi-infinite programs and  mathematical programs with complementarity constraints have been widely studied and exploited. Recent results show strong connections of these models with generalized Nash games as well. The minisymposium aims at discussing these new connections together with recent advancements for these kinds of variational problems, focusing in particular on solution methods.

Speakers:

10:30 - 11:00Max Bucher (Technische Universität Darmstadt)
Regularization for a complementarity formulation of cardinality constrained pptimization problems
11:00 - 11:30Giancarlo Bigi (Universita di Pisa)
