Discrete Mathematics
Prof. Dr. Kai-Uwe Schmidt
I am interested in topics in combinatorics, which sometimes have connections to algebra, analysis, and number theory and where algebraic and probabilistic methods often play a crucial role. I am particularly attracted by problems of general interest in pure mathematics, whose solutions potentially matter in practice, for example for the efficient storage and transmission of information.
Current research topics are: Association schemes and Delsarte theory, Coding and design theory, Finite Geometry, Extremal problems for sequences and polynomials.
