Description:
In these lecture series, we will show how (spherical) harmonic analysis can be applied in order to solve invariant differential equations on symmetric spaces. More precisely, we will consider and study evolution equations, such as the heat equation, the wave equation or the Schrödinger equation, on noncompact Riemannian symmetric spaces, in particular on Euclidean and hyperbolic spaces.
Although we will try to be as self-contained as possible, some knowledge about Lie groups and homogeneous spaces will be welcome.
Period: June 19-28.
