Seminar: Macdonald polynomials

Macdonald polynomials (named after Ian G. Macdonald) are an important family of multivariate orthogonal polynomials, which include well-known classes of special functions such as the Schur polynomials (the characters of the unitary groups) or the Hall-Littlewood polynomials (Macdonald-spherical functions) as special cases.

In this seminar we will give an introduction into the theory of these polynomials, primarily using the following literature:

M. Noumi: Macdonald Polynomials. Commuting family of q-Difference Operators and Their Joint Eigenfunctions. Springer Verlag, 2023.

The content of the seminar fits well with the lecture Dunkl operators (M. Rösler), but has a more algebraic character.

!! A preliminary meeting (with distribution of the talks) will take place on Wednesday, 2 April 2025 at 14:00 in A3.339 !!

Material concerning the course of the talks will be published on this page sufficiently in advance.
