The workshop ‚Westfälische Stochastiktage‘ will take place at Paderborn University on

September 10-11, 2026.

It is the fourth of its kind after 2018, 2022 and 2024. The workshop aims at bringing together PhD students working in probability theory at one of the universities of Westfalia and its proximity. PhD students at any stage of their PhD are welcome. The workshop is designed to provide an opportunity for young scientists to discuss their research, to build a regional scientific network, and to gain experience in presenting scientific results.

Talks

Invited speakers are:

• Prof. Dr. Hanna Döring (Universität Osnabrück)
• Prof. Dr. Jan Nagel (Technische Universität Dortmund)

Additionally, we would like to encourage every participant to give a presentation in one of the following two formats: Regular talks (about 30 minutes), in which (partial) results of the PhD project can be presented, and short talks (about 10 minutes), in which the PhD project and/or research problems in its vicinity can be presented. All talks should be given in English. Our room has both blackboards and a projector, which can be used for the talks. The schedule of talks will be linked here shortly before the workshop. We plan to schedule talks on Thursday 11 am - 5:30 pm and Friday 10 am - 4:30 pm. (Obivously this may change slightly depending on the number of participants.)

Please register before August 13 via email to stocha(at)mail(dot)upb(dot)de with subject 'Westfälische Stochastiktage'. Please provide the following information: Last name, first name, email address, institution, whether you intend to give a talk, a short talk or no talk, whether you intend to participate in the social event. By your registration you give the following consent.

If you would like to give a talk, please prepare an abstract using this LaTeX-template and compile a pdf-file. Please send the LaTeX-file and the pdf-file via email to stocha(at)mail(dot)upb(dot)de with subject 'Abstract Westfälische Stochastiktage' before August 20.

Social Event

We plan a social event for the evening of September 10. The location will be somewhat close to the campus. More information will be given shortly before the workshop.

Travel and accomodation

We will schedule the talks so that it should be possible for all participants to arrive before the first talk in the morning of September 10 and to leave after the last talk on September 11. Fees and other expenses

There will be no workshop fees. We expect to be able to contribute 65 Euros to the costs of accommodation for every participant. All further expenses have to be paid by the participants.
