The RAT group leader, Prof. Dr. Erdal Kayacan, has been elected to the Administrative Committee (AdCom) of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society for the period from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2028. The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) is a major IEEE group that focuses on nature-inspired artificial intelligence methods such as neural networks, fuzzy logic and evolutionary algorithms and their use in fields such as energy efficiency and climate solutions. It was founded in 1990 as the Neural Networks Council, renamed the Neural Networks Society in 2002 and renamed CIS in 2004 to cover broader topics. CIS serves over 8,000 members by organising major events such as the World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI) and publishing prestigious journals such as IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems. The society promotes diversity, ethical AI and global outreach through programmes, webinars and partnerships.
