In the latest edition of the renowned "Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" (GRAS), also known as the "Shanghai Subject Ranking", Paderborn University has once again made it into the top 500 universities worldwide. The results are based on five indicators that assess the performance of specific subject areas. Paderborn University's mathematics department was ranked tenth to 13th nationally and 151st to 200th worldwide, while Paderborn's electrical engineering department was ranked ninth to eleventh among German universities and 301st to 400th internationally.

The evaluation took into account the number of publications, citations, publications in top journals, international publications as well as prizes and awards received by scientists at the respective institution. "Paderborn University's results in mathematics are excellent and have improved in comparison to previous years, not only nationally but also internationally.
