In the latest edition of the renowned "Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" (GRAS), also known as the "Shanghai Subject Ranking", the Department of Mathematics at Paderborn University has once again performed very well. The results are based on five indicators that assess the performance of specific subject areas. This year, 5,000 universities from 104 countries and regions were compared with each other and 1,900 universities were ranked in 55 different subject areas. The Institute of Mathematics at Paderborn University was ranked 10th to 13th nationally and 151st to 200th worldwide, confirming the Institute of Mathematics' top positions from previous years.
The evaluation takes into account the number of publications, citations, publications in top journals, international publications as well as prizes and awards received by researchers at the respective institution. "Paderborn University's results in mathematics are excellent and have improved compared to previous years, not only nationally but also internationally," says Prof Dr Torsten Meier, Vice President for International Relations at Paderborn University.
