From March 25 to 28, 2024, the "Women Shaping the Information Society" project at Paderborn University invited schoolgirls in grades 7 to 13 to take part in a vacation program that immersed them in the world of STEM subjects and offered them guidance for their future studies.

The participants had the opportunity to take part in a variety of exciting lectures and interactive workshops covering topics from mathematics, computer science, business informatics, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. During the WestfalenWIND GmbH company excursion, the students were not only able to get to know the company, but also visit a wind turbine in Paderborn. The BENTELER Group also invited schoolgirls, showed them the company's capabilities and gave them a tour of the impressive plant.

The taster course, which is offered every six months, enabled schoolgirls to ask questions about studying, get to know the STEM world and get a taste of university life at Paderborn University.

Parallel to the "girls only" spring university, the "all gender" spring university was once again offered, which also gave high school students a first insight into STEM studies.

Thanks to all the students and participants - it was a really great week with lots of curiosity, knowledge and ideas for the future.
