Mail client recommendation

In the network of mathematics we maintain a so-called IMAP server, which allows you to read your e-mails from anywhere in the world with the help of an IMAP-enabled mail client. The big advantage of an IMAP server in contrast to the more commonly used POP servers is that your mails remain stored on the server and are thus available to you independently of your computer or home area.

Since we generally do not support access via POP as well as unencrypted access to the IMAP server for security reasons, you need a mail client that supports IMAP encrypted with SSL or TSL.

There are several mail clients that support encrypted access to IMAP servers. In mathematics we strongly rely on

Mozilla Thunderbird (Windows & Linux)

In principle there is nothing against using different mail clients in parallel because of the access via IMAP. Please note, however, that the computer support of the mathematics cannot offer support in case of problems resulting from this. Support can only be guaranteed for the 2 mail clients mentioned.
