Abstract: For a real reductive group G, an important problem in harmonic analysis is to understand the image of various convolution algebras under Fourier transform. This also provides insight to the representation theory of G. For the reduced group C*-algebra, the structure of this image was laid out cleanly by Clare, Crisp and Higson, and as a consequence it summaries central results in the theory of tempered representations, as well as…
In this talk I describe a novel Law of Dynamics for non-relativistic Quantum Mechanics (QM). The time evolution of individual physical systems consisting of charged matter interacting with the quantized electromagnetic field, e.g., electrons in the shell of an atom coupled to the radiation field, is non-linear, dissipative and stochastic, featuring isolated random events, called “quantum jumps." – We must search for the equations describing it!…
Title: Non-archimedean periods for log Calabi-Yau surfaces
Abstract: Period integrals are a fundamental concept in algebraic geometry and number theory. In this talk, we will study the notion of non-archimedean periods as introduced by Kontsevich and Soibelman. We will give an overview of the non-archimedean SYZ program, which is a close analogue of the classical SYZ conjecture in mirror symmetry.…

Abstract: Let O be a compact reflection n-orbifold whose underlying space is homeomorphic to a truncation n-polytope, i.e. a polytope obtained from an n-simplex by successively truncating vertices. In this talk, I will give a complete description of the deformation space of convex real projective structures on the orbifold O of dimension at least 4. Joint work with Suhyoung Choi and Ludovic Marquis.

Abstract: In this talk we will discuss Coxeter groups and their "Vinberg representations". These are discrete and faithful representations that are of special geometric significance. As we will show, the Zariski-closure of such representations is very restricted. This allows us to construct new examples of Zariski-dense subgroups of SL(n,Z). In particular, we will prove that, for all n at least 3, SL(n,Z) contains a Zariski-dense subgroup…
Title: Quiver Grassmannians for the Bott-Samelson resolution of type A Schubert varieties
Abstract: Quiver Grassmannians are projective varieties parametrising subrepresentations of quiver representations. Their geometry is an interesting object of study, due to the fact that many geometric properties can be studied via the representation theory of quivers. In this talk, we construct a special…
