Notes on unwanted advertising mails / SPAM

Unfortunately, scammers and advertisers have also discovered the communication possibilities of e-mails. Such unsolicited e-mails are generally referred to as SPAM.

Since it is unfortunately not possible to block all spammers, you can only try to follow some rules to keep the damage as low as possible:

Never give your email address unnecessarily. Most sweepstakes and newsletters are only designed to collect as many email addresses as possible.

Never reply to advertising mails - even if the mail claims that you can easily unsubscribe. This "unsubscribe" often only has the effect of confirming the e-mail address. As a result, you are more likely to receive more SPAM than less.

Never send SPAM yourself. Every person who uses UNI computers to send SPAM risks to lose the mail account at the university forever.

From time to time viruses or worms are sent via e-mail instead of advertising. Although all incoming e-mails are checked at the mail server, for security reasons JavaScript or similar script languages should be disabled in the mail client.

Possible detected spam will be marked with "*** SPAM ***" by the mail servers of IMT and Mathematics, this makes it easier for you to detect spam. There is no guarantee that every SPAM will be detected this way, nor that any marked mails are really SPAM.
