Re­search

At the Institute of Mathematics, our research spans from fundamental mathematical studies to interdisciplinary collaboration. In the CRC TRR 358 project, Integral Structures in Geometry and Representation Theory, mathematicians from analysis and algebra work across traditional disciplinary boundaries. Additionally, our research focuses on stochastics, applied mathematics, and close partnerships with industry. We also place strong emphasis on mathematics education, integrating it into the Institute through collaborative research projects between mathematics education specialists and mathematicians.

Kolloqui­um über Kom­bin­at­or­ik 2019

Am 08. und 09. November findet an der Universität Paderborn das 38. Kolloquium über Kombinatorik (KolKom 2019) statt. Zu der von Kai-Uwe Schmidt und Eckhard Steffen vom Institut für Mathematik organisierten Tagung werden 92 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer aus aller Welt erwartet.


Hauptvortragende sind Marco Buratti (Università degli Studi di Perugia), Miguel A. Fiol (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), Nicole Megow (Universität Bremen), Alexander Pott (Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg) und Benny Sudakov (ETH Zürich). Außerdem wird es 64 weitere Vorträge von den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern geben.
Das Kolloquium über Kombinatorik, das zum 4. mal in Folge an der Universität Paderborn stattfindet, hat sich zu einer international sichtbaren und etablierten Tagung entwickelt, die inhaltlich das Gebiet der Kombinatorik umfassend von der Algebra bis hin zur theoretischen Informatik abdeckt.
