Wei­er­strass Lec­ture 2025 - Prof. In­grid Daubech­ies

The lecture will be given by Prof. Ingrid Daubechies. Prof. Daubechies is the James B. Duke Professor at Duke University and was previously a professor and chair of the Department of Mathematics at Princeton University. The Centre for High­er Math­em­at­ics Edu­ca­tion (khdm) has received funding for the HALMA project in collaboration with the universities of Hannover, Kassel, and Paderborn. HALMA aims to explicitly anchor binding, individually tailored, and professionally coherent learning paths within the course offerings for students, adapted to competency profiles and study objectives.

Re­search

At the Institute of Mathematics, our research spans from fundamental mathematical studies to interdisciplinary collaboration. In the CRC TRR 358 project, Integral Structures in Geometry and Representation Theory, mathematicians from analysis and algebra work across traditional disciplinary boundaries. Additionally, our research focuses on stochastics, applied mathematics, and close partnerships with industry. We also place strong emphasis on mathematics education, integrating it into the Institute through collaborative research projects between mathematics education specialists and mathematicians.
