Re­mote lo­gin on the work­sta­tion com­puter

How you log onto your workstation computer depends on the operating system of your workstation computer, but also on the operating system of the computer from which you want to log on.

If you are using Linux:

Laptop with network cable at the institute
  • You can log onto the workstation computer using ssh or putty.
  • You can log onto kepler via x2go and access your workstation computer from there using ssh, xfreerdp or rdesktop.
PC at the institute

No restriction

You can log onto kepler via x2go and access your workstation from there using ssh, xfreerdp or rdesktop.

If you use Windows:

Laptop with network cable at the institute

You have direct access to your workstation computer via remote desktop.

Otherwise
  • You can log onto kepler via x2go and access your workstation from there using ssh, xfreerdp or rdesktop.
  • by using an ssh tunnel via kepler or via OpenVPN. You can access your workstation directly via remote desktop.

If you are using OS X:

Laptop with network cable at the institute

You have direct access to your workstation computer via remote desktop.
